What are our plans
When it first opened in 1938 the current church created a landmark building on a prominent site at the junction of London Road (A22) and Lingfield Road, at the gateway to East Grinstead. Our exciting new building, with its modern, clean lines and striking appearance will create a new, enhanced focal point in our neighbourhood.
The multi-purpose church building will be a welcoming and inspiring place with an increased capacity and the flexibility for new expressions of worship. It will also provide a state-of-the-art performance venue for music, dance, drama, meetings, and other suitable events.
Internally, the new facility will have a large, spacious, attractive foyer with full disabled access, leading directly to both the Welcome Café, the new church, and a new hall. New ministry rooms, vestry and a reception will further enhance the church's role in the local community.
In addition to multi-functionality, the new design will incorporate a range of environmentally friendly features, in particular maximising the use of natural light and rainwater harvesting. All relevant energy-efficiency measures will also be incorporated.
How we are progressing towards our target
The total cost of the new building project is expected to be approximately £1.35 million. Over 10% of that figure has been raised in our first year. Our primary source of income so far has been regular donations from members and friends, plus proceeds from a variety of fundraising events. We also reclaim tax from HM Revenue & Customs on donations that have been gift-aided.
We are continuing to raise money in these ways, and are also approaching bodies offering grant aid for whatever assistance they can provide. We need your help.
